Japeth Aguilar says sorry after accidental hits on teammates Slaughter, Caguioa

Japeth Aguilar apologized on Wednesday night, stressing it was not his intention to get involved in 'friendly fire' with Greg Slaughter and Mark Caguioa in Barangay Ginebra’s 104-86 win over Mahindra in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The athletic Gin Kings forward accidentally hit his teammates in the face early in the game, with Slaughter being the second casualty in the first quarter when Aguilar hit his frontcourt partner above the right eye after a block attempt on Mahindra import August Gilchrist.

“That time lang, we were just aggressive on going to the ball,” Aguilar explained. “Nagkataon nakalabas yung siko ko at tinamaan ko sila.”

“Pero hindi ko naman sinasadya,” the soft-spoken cager added as he ended up cracking a joke to Slaughter.

“Biniro ko nga siya eh, sabi ko, ‘Way to catch all my passes, pati elbow ko, nasalo mo,’” he said with a smile. “Sorry, Greg.”

Good thing, the Gin Kings emerged victorious with their third straight win.

“I’m proud sa lahat ng teammates ko, because, really, we’ve been working hard in practice tapos talagang lumabas sa game,” Aguilar said. “Hopefully ma-sustain namin.”
